Hello Little Dobbies

If you didn’t know already, Dobbies Garden Centres have just launched their very first city pop-up shop in the heart of Stockbridge. The perfect spot for green-fingered new-town flaneurs, right? Opening in Edinburgh in 1865, Dobbie’s is now Britain’s largest garden centre operator and over time, has slowly expanded its offer to seasonal plants, trees and furniture giving first-time gardeners the chance to become accomplished horticulturalists.

To me…garden centres usually mean a cosy hot chocolate in hand, lots of beautiful plant life and exciting gifts homeware sections, and this describes Little Dobbies exactly.

At a time when we’re all relying on nature to spruce our working-from-home desk spaces and improve our mental wellbeing, its opening on Raeburn Place is perfectly timed.  Filled with a profusion of luscious leaves, impressive exotics and beautiful blooms, this magical space really is the ideal place to visit if you’re on the hunt for a new house-plant – or ten!

Among the various pots and hanging baskets, you can expect to find succulents, aqua roots, cacti and hydroponics just screaming to be Instagrammed. However the sprawling choice of goodies spans much further than simply just decorative house-plants. Little Dobbies offer all specimens of seeds, pots and tools, as well as a range of lifestyle books, accessories, cards, wrap, seasonal decorations, cushions, rugs, throws and so much more. Everything on offer has quality in mind!

Now not only is Little Dobbies the place to go for house-plants, but also stylish Christmas accessories. With a running theme of the enchanted forest, they even have biscuit banquets for our furry friends, which will of course go down a treat for the doggies of Stockbridge on Christmas Day!

Serving locally-roasted Dobbies coffee and cakes, the space is bright and designed to bring Stockbridgers together on a daily basis. The take-away café was decorated in joyful flower walls with plenty of space for wheelchairs or pushchairs. All the staff were helpful and pleasant, in all sections of the shop! A must visit this Christmas.
