Brunch To Go from Waldorf Astoria

Sarah Johnston
18th Feb. '21

One of the highlights of my recent stay at the Waldorf Astoria Edinburgh – The Caledonian was the
incredible Continental breakfast which I’ve tried, unsuccessfully, to recreate since. So when they
launched their Brunch To Go delivery service, available for EH1-17 postcodes, I couldn’t resist giving it a try.

Our boxed delivery arrived prompt (in a Bentley no less) and each little cardboard container was
brimming with delectable treats. It’s billed as a “sumptuous brunch” and boy, it did not disappoint.
The presentation and attention to detail of each gourmet offering was impeccable and they’d made
plating up a breeze. Within minutes the table was brimming with Continental fine fare that looked as good as some of the best restaurant brunches I’ve enjoyed in the past.

And it tasted just as good as it looked. We enjoyed some silky smooth honey Greek yoghurt with
homemade granola and fresh fruit pots, alongside some freshly squeezed orange juice and fresh
coffee. The freshly pastries were perfection and the fluffy Waldorf Astoria drop scones were every
bit as good as the ones we’d enjoyed in the hotel. Served with vanilla cream and a berry compote,
these were devoured by the family.

The next round of epicurean delights was even better. The tasty charcuterie platter featured
premium salami, serrano ham and honey roast ham whilst the Scottish cheeses (Howgate Brie,
Strathdon Blue and Arran Smoked Cheddar) were generously sized and full of flavour. Their fresh
breads we warmed in the oven for five minutes were an absolute treat with them. And if that’s not
enough there was a trio of salmon platter with lemon and Avruga caviar. Sublime.

It was a real treat with no expense spared on the quality of ingredients and freshness of everything
on offer. In taste and presentation, it was just as good as our Waldorf Astoria, The Caledonian
breakfast experience in December which is no mean feat. The Brunch To Go also comes with a
selection of tea and cafetiere ground coffee making refills a breeze.

At £49 per couple, its great value for money – you can upgrade to include Bloody Mary cocktails
created by their mixologist (£65) or even a bottle of Laurent-Perrier champagne (£79) as we did.
Paying £30 for a bottle of Laurent-Perrier is a bargain, considering it retails for around £40.

This is spectacular five star brunching in the comfort of your own home and something we will be
doing again soon. Take a bow Waldorf Astoria Edinburgh – The Caledonian.
